With great pleasure comes great pain: Migraines and Orgasms

I get migraines.  They’re not so fun and I know they’re migraines because they come with an aura.  I get them at least once a month, probably coinciding with my cycle, but recently I’ve been getting them 2x a month.  What brings them on is the bigger issue.  I get my migraines from orgasming.  I can’t see myself avoiding the pleasure that triggers my pain, but I find myself not being able to let go when I am with him.

It’s hard for me to talk about this topic because it has to do with something so intimate, but I do need to find out if anybody else is experiencing these coital headaches and to see if there’s a way to cure them.  They get in the way of work and it can’t be pleasant to be around me when I have a pillow over my head all day and need silence.  Let me walk you through them:

It’s not just sex.  I can trigger these simply by taking a shower or running.  They start with a mild headache and neck stiffness a few days prior and I know it’s only a matter of time.  Sometimes I trigger them myself by forcing an O.  I’m just so uncomfortable the few days beforehand.  I see my aura in the upper left quadrant of my vision; starting out as a pinhole in my vision with a blurry colorful buzzing that spreads throughout my whole vision over the course of 20 minutes.  As soon as I see the tiny dot is when I take a vicoprofen and try to eat something since I will be sick later.  I don’t like Relpax or Imitrex because they haven’t been able to help me with the pain.  When I can see, I feel super drunk, whether I take a pill or not.  I don’t think straight and I sound like I’m speaking in tongues, so I just try not to speak.  Then the pain kicks in.  It’s more of a constant pressure in my brain that just doesn’t go away.  It kind of feels like I got a concussion from being kicked in the head and this lasts at least 6 hours.  Mid-way through my migraine is what scares me the most though:  my left side gets this rolling tingling numbness.  It starts with my nose becoming itchy and then my bottom lip.  The roof of my mouth gets tingly and my left arm and leg fall asleep.  When this happens I try not to cry as it’s futile.  Unfortunately, I’m awake this whole time because for some reason, even if I’m super tired, I can’t sleep when I have a migraine.  It’s just not fun and I’m sure there are others somewhere out there on this wide internet that suffers from the same thing that may have an option for me.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m overheating, my heart is beating faster, or some other variable I just can’t put my finger on.  I just know I need them to stop.  I’ve abstained from drinking for a month, taking birth control (if you suffer migraines with aura, you are 9x more likely to suffer a stroke if you’re on estrogen–per my neurologist) and quit smoking years ago when I thought that was the issue.  I’ve been suffering from them since 2007 and although migraines run in my family, I’m the only one who seems to get the aura.  I’ve also gotten fired from a position because I kept getting them and I’ve gotten a few at work from what I think were panic attacks.  I got screwed by an IT company in Raynham when I tried to apply for unemployment back in 2008 because they blamed letting me go on unauthorized internet use.  You’re a damn IT company, we need to communicate via the internet to sell!  Because of that failure, I lost my car and I’m still struggling trying to catch up.

In January of 2010, I decided to start my own company, x10industries, specializing in social media marketing, personal branding and website design.  Although it’s a long hard road and I’m still not really making much of an income, I am able to pay the bills and I can work at my own pace and not worry about calling in sick so often because of this disease.  I enjoy paying it forward with my BeantownSocial.com, posting events and fun things to my calendar and writing pieces for various companies.  I’m still playing around with figuring out how this is all going to earn me an income, but I am starting to build my book of business when it comes down to social media.  I also just picked up my first international company!

Things are just starting to pick up for me and I have developed more of a positive mindset than I’ve ever had in my life.  I truly enjoy working with the multitude of random public figures, companies and ideas and I’m eager to see what the next chapter of my life will bring.  I just wish it could be pain-free…

PSA: How to avoid African PayPal scams on Facebook

So it’s a good thing I had the internet on my side on this one.  Apparently, if you send someone an invoice from PayPal, they pay, you send the goods and give them tracking information.. even when they DO receive the goods, they have a chance to revoke payment.

I mentioned that I was selling a camera on Facebook Marketplace, because I figured it would reach friends and friends of friends.  Apparently, it reached some hacked or bogus users.

Their stories go like this:  I am in the military or I am in the US but I need to ship this to my buddy/mom/sister over in S Africa/Nigeria/Somewhere in Africa so I am willing to pay an extra $100 to cover shipping expenses.  Please send an invoice from PayPal to my Gmail/Hotmail account so I may pay you.

They pay, you ship, they receive, they revoke.  You end up without your goods and without their money.

The only way to really combat this is sell on eBay, where you will qualify for seller protection or only take local payments.  I may move my ads to Craigslist so eBay doesn’t take any of my earnings ;)

So I voted Scott Brown.. much to the chagrin of a few of my Twitter and Facebook contacts. Please, PLEASE tell me why you’re not voting for Scott Brown other than you’re a Democrat. I’m a registered Independent, and I have no problem voting Dem need be. I’m not going to lie, I voted McCain–let me be clear here: I voted McCain. Not Palin–but I still don’t think Obama deserves all this Nobel Prize and “Change” praise. Want change? Legalize pot. Just recently, California stated they’d make $1.3 billion.. that’s BILLION in revenue by taxing it if it was fully legalized but that’s another discussion for another voting day wayyyy in the future…

I voted Scott Brown today because after all the allegations I hear about him denying rape victims the morning after pill and nixing the health care bill, nobody can come to me with a straight face and tell me each accusation has any standing.  Dare ya.  Please don’t try to “rip me a new one” b/c you’re all hot in the head.  Please talk to me like a real human being engaged in a debate when you comment.  Thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving.. What are you thankful for?

I understand that this economy has made it so communication has stopped completely in some areas.. for me, I haven’t really used my phone so much.. I haven’t really gone out recently and networked and spoken to people in person — I’d rather Twitter or message on Facebook or AIM, Skype, etc., but the more powerful ways to say “hello, I miss you, we should catch up,” on the phone, in person, or even in the form of a BLOG have slipped even by me in these trying times.

Something that we need to talk about in creating that personal brand to reach out and touch your customers:  Blogging.  I need to get back into it and you do too if you have a brand you’re selling… if you look up companies who have been blogging effectively, like my buddy, Kevin @ Berkshire Grains (http://berkshiregrain.blogspot.com/), Googling “berkshire grains” finds tons of info on his site but if you pay close attention, because of the fact that he blogged last week, and that he’s consistent about it, his Blog comes up close to the top organically.  He writes simple things like recipes or pertinent information about his product, but he is ENGAGING the public; bringing them closer to his brand.

So… I’m taking a page out of his book and am making a commitment to BLOG WEEKLY.  Yes, I write about cooking a lot @ home… alone… but sometimes I can come up with some pretty engaging stuff like “How to build a sales pipeline on Manta” and I do have to work on the header to make it prettier than it is @ the moment.. but I’m creating my BRAND, slowly, surely.. and I think you should subscribe..  I’m going to start working more on my blog than the Facebook/Twitter as it’s more time-intensive than just a 140 character or less update but it also has the ability to REACH MORE USERS if someone’s searching how to make some tomato avocado balsamic dish..  It makes sense.  Now I’ve got to utilize the web for good and not just evil.. although my SocialiteInTraining.com site gets 300+ viewers a week b/c I’m putting all the events in the Boston area out there and my Twitter has over 10,000 followers.

If you’re not ready to take the plunge, just tell me what you’re thankful for.  I’m thankful for my huge amazing friends and family, being able to see them this week and catching up, and being able to keep in touch with them even when it’s not a holiday through my Social Media and Blogging :)
